The Poverty of Work Today (33)

The Poverty of Work Today

1
With corporates as a starting place
Since they control the human race
Their lust for power is a disgrace
But monsters can’t behave
I do my best but what the heck
They treat me like a walking deck
On some abandoned ocean wreck
Some rest is what I crave

I work too long, I work too hard
I’m getting tired of this
I wish I didn’t have to serve
Some wealthy capitalist!
We need to make them think again
Perhaps through demonstration
That justice and community
Have a role in our nation

2
The business world is off its head
I need to spend more time in bed
Sleeping or making love instead
Or surfing on a wave
The capitalist has only greed
To give away to those in need
Since evil occupies their creed
Some rest is what I crave

I work too long, I work too hard
I’m getting tired of this
I wish I didn’t have to serve
Some wealthy capitalist!
We need to make them think again
Perhaps through demonstration
That justice and community
Have a role in our nation

3
They have a stack of cash to hide
Their greed cannot be satisfied
For fun they take you for a ride
And work you like a slave!
Rising inequality is clearly wrong
The union days have now gone
And so the poor do not belong
Some rest is what I crave

I work too long, I work too hard
I’m getting tired of this
I wish I didn’t have to serve
Some wealthy capitalist!
We need to make them think again
Perhaps through demonstration
That justice and community
Have a role in our nation

The End
