Party Invitation (29)

Party Invitation

1
I would like to mention Suzie
She has long inspired me
With her love for revolution
And the wilderness still free

Well she’s hoping you Goldie
With your love of being bold
Will embrace our revolution
That is starting to take hold

Planet saving is unusual
It begins with planting trees
And then rescuing the rivers
And protecting the high seas

We would love to have you Goldie
With your gift to lead the throng
This will draw people together
Since it feels good to belong

2

Naturally revolution
Has an anti-social name
Yet Suzie has assured me
That big business is to blame

Having sacrificed their scruples
By the gold they seek to make
Even when it means creation
Is then carved up like a cake

Planet saving is unusual
It begins with planting trees
And then rescuing the rivers
And protecting the high seas

We would love to have you Goldie
With your gift to lead the throng
This will draw people together
Since it feels good to belong

3

I suppose it’s not the norm
To attempt to save the world
So the children in the making
Will have reason to feel proud

Yet Heaven sounds better
Than some dormitory in hell
Even if the smug and certain
Might become the losers now

Planet saving is unusual
It begins with planting trees
And then rescuing the rivers
And protecting the high seas

We would love to have you Goldie
With your gift to lead the throng
This will draw people together
Since it feels good to belong

4

No doubt this will surprise you
How we feel you are the one
To draw us close together
When all is said and done

Well it’s up to you Goldie
If we come across as odd
Just remember planet saving
Sounds like music to our God

Planet saving is unusual
It begins with planting trees
And then rescuing the rivers
And protecting the high seas

We would love to have you Goldie
With your gift to lead the throng
This will draw people together
Since it feels good to belong

You can see the birds migrating
On the back of summer gone
As they fly in fine formation
To a new land just beyond

A sudden change in climate
Like a storm close to the shore
And an angel will then guide them
To a distant land that the birds adore

A Gift for Goldilocks (28)

Paper Boat (1)

1
A sheet of folded paper
Was the very boat for me
My motto was plain sailing
As my yacht sank in the sea

Sharks began approaching
Keen to exercise their teeth
That might cut me into ribbons
For some bloody ocean wreath

Boats created out of paper
Are red squirrels and not grey
Since the latter are politicians
Where the mighty rule the day

With their promising solutions
That gives birth under a light
Yet something must be lacking
In the hearts of those attacking
The ones without good backing
And more vulnerable in a fight
As sharks survey the oceans
For fresh meat to eat tonight

Boats made out of paper
Are becoming rather rare
What better than a galleon
Like the Fighting Temeraire?

But change can happen quickly
And a boat become a wreck
For it only needs a banker
To appear upon the deck

To condemn a godly galleon
While thinking “what the heck
For I make most of my money
From a market that’s high-tech”.

A sheet of folded paper
Was the very boat for me
My motto was plain sailing
As my yacht sank in the sea

Sharks began approaching
With their lethal sets of teeth
That could cut me into ribbons
For some bloody ocean wreath

Paper boats are white rabbits
To be pulled out of a hat
Looking apprehensive
At the presidential cat

With his promising solutions
That gives birth under a light
Yet something must be lacking
In the hearts of those attacking
The ones without good backing
And more vulnerable in a fight

Wolves and Dragons (2)

1
I was lost inside the forest
With some wolves pursuing me
If I stopped to give one dinner
I would soon be feeding three
Until eventually they moved on
Leaving me to lie beside a shady tree

With my journey nearly over
And the Priest so far away
My mind was on the dragon
That had once led me astray
With the promise of a rainbow
That would fill my life with colour every day

I confess to chasing dragons
Once enslaved you must obey
But these days I am a good girl
Saved by grace and the most amazing spray

2
With wolves now all around me
I was really in a fix
Would it help to ignore them?
Could I out manoeuvre six?
Taking time for contemplation
Maybe prayer could be added to the mix

I was looking at my exit
Well before my time to go
With the wolves about to eat me
In a most untidy row
A miracle was now needed
To deal my enemies a major blow

I confess to chasing dragons
Once enslaved you must obey
But these days I am a good girl
Saved by grace and the most amazing spray

3
Well I thought about the dragon
I had chased some time before
Once its fire was extinguished
I had won a mighty war
With an end to chasing dragons
As these beasts will devour you for sure

So I lashed out at these creatures
And I sent the pack away
If a girl can chase the dragon
Then six wolves are easy prey
Just as long as you repel them
With the help of some angelic pepper spray

I confess to chasing dragons
Once enslaved you must obey
But these days I am a good girl
Saved by grace and the most amazing spray

Running Wild (3)

1
I learnt to ski as a young child
Some say I was a pretty sight
Racing through every class
Much to my tutor’s delight

Around this time I befriended
A wayward child much like me
He really loved the wild forests
And places where we used to ski

We tumbled in the snow about us
Delighting in the world we loved
Thankful for the wild creatures
Existing long before the flood

I’m a child of the wilds
Disappearing behind the trees
Chasing foxes through the forest
And smoking out the honey bees

However on becoming adults
To office buildings we were bound
Dreaming of Norwegian mountains
And the beautiful forests all around

2
Once we started skiing together
The wilds grew inside my heart
With our lives tangled together
And so too close to tear apart

A mountain slope could be amazing
Increasing speed as we went down
Life became a brilliant adventure
Whenever we slipped out of town

Searching for a hidden tunnel
Beneath a sea of perfect white
Tangling with startled creatures
As dusk began to wake the night

I’m a child of the wilds
Disappearing behind the trees
Chasing foxes through the forest
And smoking out the honey bees

However on becoming adults
To office buildings we were bound
Dreaming of Norwegian mountains
And the beautiful forests all around

3
In every season we ran wild
A reflection of our hinterland
Empty buildings gave us shelter
When a blizzard was close at hand

Most children kept a gap between us
As rumour spread we used a whip
To frighten foxes into some boxes
To be sold off to a passing ship

Not that we would ever hurt one
We had travelled far from man
Thinking more like wild foxes
Alive and well without a plan

I’m a child of the wilds
Disappearing behind the trees
Chasing foxes through the forest
And smoking out the honey bees

However on becoming adults
To office buildings we were bound
Dreaming of Norwegian mountains
And the beautiful forests all around

Postscript
Life is a journey I suppose
You need a plan or so it goes
However foxes taught me that
The heart knows where life is at
Sadly the mind came from the rat
Before a saint could find a pussycat
