Slaying the Dragon (13)

Slaying the Dragon

1
How sad to see a dragon
In the forest purple-green
Abandoned by its parents
Due to hunters on the scene
Does it not deserve a ballad
To mark this very sad event
Now their deadly ammunition
Has presumably been spent?
Chorus
Some people say the dragon
Is a desperately violent beast
Just because it owns the forest
Where it likes to roam in peace
In the shade that is provided
By the many splendid trees
Far from the concrete cities
And a pocketful of keys

2
Just because we own the cities
That the dragons fear the most
Must we vandalise the forests
Like we burn a round of toast
In the wilderness provided
At the very dawn of time
A gift to every species
Of life that is sublime
Chorus
Some people say the dragon
Is a desperately violent beast
Just because it owns the forest
Where it likes to roam in peace
In the shade that is provided
By the many splendid trees
Far from the concrete cities
And a pocketful of keys

3
I felt sorry for the dragon
That had lost its parents now
No doubt to please some hunters
Keen to shoot something somehow
Well they killed two lovely dragons
A cruel act to make them proud
At their prowess as hunters
In the forests of the world
Chorus
Some people say the dragon
Is a desperately violent beast
Just because it owns the forest
Where it likes to roam in peace
In the shade that is provided
By the many splendid trees
Far from the concrete cities
And a pocketful of keys

The End

The Forests and the Dragons of Vietnam (12)

The Forests and the Dragons of Vietnam

Such wickedness to create
Poisons designed to devastate
The forests and the dragons of Vietnam
It’s too painful still to speak about napalm
And the children barbecued by Uncle Sam

Since their forests were depleted in a war against their land
The dragons have been dying I’ve been led to understand
Thanks to Agent Orange, such a gentle sounding name
For the deadliest of poisons to be used in a war game

The children that survived could not help but feel despair
Just to see how God’s creation was now dying everywhere
How on earth could Agent Orange strip a virgin forest bare?
And destroy so many dragons and the babies in their care?

Such wickedness to create
Poisons designed to devastate
The forests and the dragons of Vietnam
It’s too painful still to speak about napalm
And the children barbecued by Uncle Sam

I am sick of Agent Orange and the thinking behind this
To pour out such deadly poison on the people like a mist
In the knowledge that their poison would kill off everything
Which in turn suggests this nation has the devil as its king?

Without peace and understanding, it’s too easy to create
The most hateful kind of weapons that are used to devastate
The forests of creation and the villages in their midst
It’s a deadly game for sure
When the West conducts a war
It’s preoccupied with its latest list
Of places to visit in a bombing blitz

Such wickedness to create
Poisons designed to devastate
The forests and the dragons of Vietnam
It’s too painful still to speak about napalm
And the children barbecued by Uncle Sam

The End

Time Out with Emily Bronte (11)

Time Out with Emily Bronte

1

Miss Emily Bronte, I’m delighted that you could come
With time travel not easy and too adventurous for some
And so naturally I’m pleased that you should journey to me
Through a gap in the armour of time that’s impossible to see
So what shall we do? I have asked you this question before
Which means you must know love-making is what I adore
Shopping won’t work since you can’t take anything back
Unless I attempt to seduce you with say a Big Mac
Chorus
Life can be a challenge no matter what age we are in
Since the fairy godmother became exceedingly thin
However when Emily Bronte is there to be held
I am delighted to be in such a beautiful world

2
Miss Emily Bronte, I don’t mean to rush you my friend
But life here is short and will eventually come to an end
We must really consider how to make good use of our time
Since only a fool would discard the best years of their prime
Well there is always love-making to do that is blue like the sea
And according to theory is much healthier than watching TV
Of course I am guessing you know just how tedious this is
When in fact you may know absolutely nothing about this
Chorus
Life can be a challenge no matter what age we are in
Since the fairy godmother became exceedingly thin
However when Emily Bronte is there to be held
I am delighted to be in such a beautiful world

3
Miss Emily Bronte, I have some concerns about life
With greed and corruption becoming increasingly rife
Yet health care is good for those with insurance to pay
Or who live in a land where health care is still free today
Naturally I’m a product of this most unbelievable age
Where liberalism alone is allowed to perform on stage
No doubt you will find this philosophy somewhat obtuse
Which leads us back to the bedroom with no time to lose
Chorus
Life can be a challenge no matter what age we are in
Since the fairy godmother became exceedingly thin
However when Emily Bronte is there to be held
I am delighted to be in such a beautiful world

Rendezvous with Emily Bronte (10)

Rendezvous with Emily Bronte
1
Miss Emily Bronte time travel first brought you to me
Before you were famous but after I knew you would be
With the benefit of history preparing me for this surprise
Compromising time’s right to provide the key to Paradise
While love-making for us was naturally our preoccupation
Some distance away from the capital of my home nation
That eventually I abandoned once Thatcher had started
To ruin all the things I most loved before she departed

Chorus
For once in my life I was where I had longed to be
Breathing the same rarefied air as Miss Emily Bronte
With her eyes echoing the renaissance of the spring sky
As the snow on the mountains departs now summer is nigh
2
Logic was absent rejected by us out of hand
For delaying our journey through an idyllic land
With rainbows aplenty and forests a haven of life
Without competition to generate mischief and strife
The harvest was ready yet winter a long voyage away
Removed from the fall that precipitated worldly decay
Delivered at last from the storm that fosters true fear
When it demands that beauty and youth disappear

Chorus
For once in my life I was where I had longed to be
Breathing the same rarefied air as Miss Emily Bronte
With her eyes echoing the renaissance of the spring sky
As the snow on the mountains departs now summer is nigh
3
We met many times with no reason to rush our affair
With amazing beauty not to mention incredibly rare
Yet in defiance of logic she opened a page on me
Seeing a diamond where glass must actually be
Wishful thinking yet I would not argue with this
Now in this new land I had Emily Bronte to kiss
With stockings fantastic sewn from satin by hand
And culture exquisite unlike ours shallow and bland

Chorus
For once in my life I was where I had longed to be
Breathing the same rarefied air as Miss Emily Bronte
With her eyes echoing the renaissance of the spring sky
As the snow on the mountains departs now summer is nigh
The End
