Goldie wants to save this planet

Is she mad? I think she is

Thankfully I’m not expected

To be bothered much with this

Planet saving is dramatic

Like say a wake-up call

To forget about the circus

Where the trick is to enthral

It’s a weird and crazy habit

To attempt to save a planet

But with Goldie so committed

I feel we ought to help her do it

I was once a lion tamer

It felt good to use a whip

Until the animal supporters

Wore me down with their lip

And so the circus owner

Gave the lion to a zoo

And closed my position

As he shed a tear or two

It’s a weird and crazy habit

To attempt to save a planet

But with Goldie so committed

I feel we ought to help her do it

Goldie is quite different

To the usual red brigade

By focussing on this planet

And not emphasising trade

As business creates income

And paid work for us to do

Employment is the master

If you leave out just a few

It’s a weird and crazy habit

Goldie really is a rebel

But I love her crazy ways

Even though planet saving

Seems impossible these days

As you will just get arrested

If you refuse to conform

And to try to save a planet

Is a long way from the norm

It’s a weird and crazy habit

To attempt to save a planet

But with Goldie so committed

I feel we ought to help her do it

If you want to save a planet

Then talk to Goldie please

She’s out saving a forest

From the enemy of trees

Or ordinary stupid people

With no time to save these

Of course I’m quoting Goldie

Or what she strongly believes!
