The Time Traveller (2)

The Time Traveller

The Time Traveller

1
Emily Bronte, even prettier of late
Though your fabulous dress is a trite out of date
If we head to the shops the odd person may stare
Blind to the beauty beneath what you wear
Yet we can ignore them, I’ve plenty of cash
With the cheaper the item the more likely the trash
Or else there’s romancing; I’d much prefer this
For your absence has left me with no one to kiss
But naturally change is forever abound
So you can decide between trite and profound

Now for the good news
I’ve a bottle of port
If shopping sounds boring
Then be a good sport
Just ignore what is written
It will leave you distraught
And think like a kitten
Amounting to nought
Clearly I am smitten
And today it is taught
The best fruit can be bitten
Just as long as you avoid getting caught

What else can I tell you; I’m a writer myself
With a laptop computer I bought off the shelf
I did write a novel; it could do with a clean
To be honest our culture is becoming obscene
I can fetch you a snack, say spaghetti on toast?
Followed by coffee or the tea you love most
My servants are off for the day as you see
If you have any questions feel free to ask me
Of course I remember the last time we met
Such pleasure is something I cannot forget
But I was a poet that stood out from the crowd
While you were naïve to the ways of our world

Now for the good news
I’ve a bottle of port
If snacking sounds boring
Then be a good sport
Just ignore what is written
It will leave you distraught
And think like a kitten
Amounting to nought
Clearly I am smitten
And today it is taught
The best fruit can be bitten
Just as long as you avoid getting caught
