Farewell to Alexandra (7)

Farewell to Alexandra

1
Alexandra was my girlfriend
I was just seven years old
She was such a lovely person
With a heart as pure as gold
I was ten when she moved houses
So we couldn’t meet again
Even though we both desired
For our friendship to remain

Chorus

With the sun daily arriving
In the shadow of the moon
Its farewell to Alexandra
Who I dedicate this tune
Never mind how life tore us both apart
Her spirit remains alive inside my heart

2
I miss my Alexandra
Even though my youth has set
No point searching on Facebook
Or the wider internet
With “Alexandra’s” being common
And not knowing her last name
And no doubt she will be married
Things could never be the same

Chorus

With the sun daily arriving
In the shadow of the moon
Its farewell to Alexandra
Who I dedicate this tune
Never mind how life tore us both apart
Her spirit remains alive inside my heart

3
Change demands a little something
From us every passing day
Yet thankfully life's sparkle
Is too good to pass away
So despite being different
To the person we each knew
If you look around the flowers
You may see the garden too

Chorus

With the sun daily arriving
In the shadow of the moon
Its farewell to Alexandra
Who I dedicate this tune
Never mind how life tore us both apart
Her spirit remains alive inside my heart

4
Despite the many changes
That a person must endure
In the land of the living
Where the air is never pure
The strands of our affection
Remain buried deep within
With hope on the horizon
And a new day to begin

Chorus

With the sun daily arriving
In the shadow of the moon
Its farewell to Alexandra
Who I dedicate this tune
Never mind how life tore us both apart
Her spirit remains alive inside my heart

The End

  1. I have just finishing editing two lines in one verse. From what I can see previous comments I made about this song have disappeared which is a shame as they provide a real background to this particular song/poem. Do these comments have a limited lifespan? Or do they disappear during the editing process? I have no idea. Or maybe they are still available buried away somewhere I don't know about? I have no idea. If comments are this brittle then why make the effort to say something meaningful? Cyber space is a fragile environment sometimes which can be a shame as this can sometimes provide us with an opportunity to leave some kind of legacy pertaining to our life on this planet. Then again if the warnings concerning global warning are as dire as some predict maybe this does not matter after all! No matter; we can't be expected to believe everything we read.
