Dragon Finale (14)

Dragon Finale
1
Some people say that dragons only exist
Like Santa Claus or monsters in the mist
And that we don’t need to believe in this
According to mainstream thought that is
Yet back when my Pa was a communist
Conventional thinking was easier to resist
And so dragons were just fine to believe in
But to be a capitalist sympathiser was a sin
Chorus
Dragons are a creature worthy of respect
With a scarlet reputation I seem to recollect
That places them on the right side of the fence
Occupying the better land belonging to the “left”
Empowering them to be sharing and caring
This in turn enables them to begin repairing
The forests ravaged by the monster in the making
Engaged in the usual kind of business undertaking

2
We are running out of time to save this fine breed
From the usual pestilence of human lust and greed
In the vast cities, where are the reds that used to be?
Enamoured by the spirit of the dragon to truly believe
Has materialism polluted the souls of humanity today?
And destroyed too many forests where the dragons stay
Denying us the spirit and the imagination we need to thrive
In a world of our creation where nature struggles to survive

Chorus
Dragons are a creature worthy of respect
With a scarlet reputation I seem to recollect
That places them on the right side of the fence
Occupying the best land that is found on the “left”
Empowering them to be sharing and caring
This in turn enables them to begin repairing
The forests ravaged by the monster in the making
Engaged in the usual kind of business undertaking

3
It is perfectly natural to believe in dragons if you are red
As the capitalists insist all of the dragons are now dead
And that somehow this allows them to unleash the lead
In order to wreck the forests with their insatiable greed
Well Jane Austen believed in dragons I have been told
I’m delighted to welcome this fine woman into the fold
With Jane Austen on side, we need not fear or doubt
Provided we have enough supporters to fight this out

The End
