Slaying the Dragon (13)

Slaying the Dragon

1
How sad to see a dragon
In the forest purple-green
Abandoned by its parents
Due to hunters on the scene
Does it not deserve a ballad
To mark this very sad event
Now their deadly ammunition
Has presumably been spent?
Chorus
Some people say the dragon
Is a desperately violent beast
Just because it owns the forest
Where it likes to roam in peace
In the shade that is provided
By the many splendid trees
Far from the concrete cities
And a pocketful of keys

2
Just because we own the cities
That the dragons fear the most
Must we vandalise the forests
Like we burn a round of toast
In the wilderness provided
At the very dawn of time
A gift to every species
Of life that is sublime
Chorus
Some people say the dragon
Is a desperately violent beast
Just because it owns the forest
Where it likes to roam in peace
In the shade that is provided
By the many splendid trees
Far from the concrete cities
And a pocketful of keys

3
I felt sorry for the dragon
That had lost its parents now
No doubt to please some hunters
Keen to shoot something somehow
Well they killed two lovely dragons
A cruel act to make them proud
At their prowess as hunters
In the forests of the world
Chorus
Some people say the dragon
Is a desperately violent beast
Just because it owns the forest
Where it likes to roam in peace
In the shade that is provided
By the many splendid trees
Far from the concrete cities
And a pocketful of keys

The End
