The Planet Saver (42)

The Planet Saver

1

Sarah was a planet saver
(It’s a rare and deadly trade)
And before this a bank teller
In a job that’s ready made

Sarah gave away the city
Just to save a lonely wood
From the men in bulldozers
A far cry from Robin Hood

Sarah organised a protest
Creating havoc in the town
With a dance demonstration
Leading to a police melt-down

They bashed Sarah with batons
(Violent actions have no shame)
Lovely Sarah died soon after
In a cell when no help came

We rely on employment
To provide us with our pay
In return we serve a master
Who we soon learn to obey

The wood made way for cattle
To be fattened up a bit
Within a month of Sarah
Succumbing to a baton hit

And though you cannot blame the Burger King
There’s something wrong about this “profit thing”

2
The police were in denial
When an elder tried to say
That our Sarah had created
A most violent street affray

“The police may use their batons
When threatened with assault
It’s believed Sarah fell over
According to our report”

The wood was turned to fodder
Or a field where animals graze
Since the markets had decided
To let commerce rule these days

In the world of high finance
There’s no value in a wood
Unless your name is Sarah
With a nature that is good

We rely on employment
To provide us with our pay
In return we serve a master
Who we soon learn to obey

The wood made way for cattle
To be fattened up a bit
Within a month of Sarah
Succumbing to a baton hit

And though you cannot blame the Burger King
There’s something wrong about this “profit thing”

The End
