The Red Riding Hood Blues
1
Red Riding Hood is living in a
small and weary shack
It was built beside a forest a
hundred years way back
It’s a primitive existence as
there is no power on
And the soil isn’t suited for
growing much upon
Red Riding Hood is working in a typical
town bar
There is no public transport so she
has to own a car
Her guy can’t find employment; it’s
society to blame
And in one of life’s ironies, Mr Wolf
is his last name
Miss Red Riding Hood is pretty
And most clearly has a brain
Yet her pay is insufficient
With a fellah to maintain
So they grow some weed for others
And risk jail without the benefit
of champagne
2
Red Riding Hood has virtue; this
is something on her side
And I do believe she’s single;
she has never been a bride
Mr Wolf, well he seems happy just
to sleep inside her bed
With a face more like ground zero
and a beanie on his head
With the money from her bar work,
they have just enough to eat
Since they don’t have any
children needing stockings on their feet
It’s a primitive existence so
they sell a plant or two
And if they end up in prison
Then it’s fair to blame the
system
It’s real hard to make a living
On low pay and with vacancies so
few
This is why Red Riding Hood is feeling
blue
Miss Red Riding Hood is pretty
And most clearly has a brain
Yet her pay is insufficient
With a fellah to maintain
So they grow some weed for others
And risk jail without the benefit
of champagne
The End
